Maison Moreau the enduring legacy
Louis Moreau Sr. (1740–1802) became a master cabinetmaker in 1764, earning fame for his craftsmanship. During the revolutionary era, he and his son partnered with Martin-Guillaume Biennais, creating exceptional cabinets and trunks—some commissioned by Emperor Napoleon.
The Moreau family expanded from cabinetmaking to luxury travel goods, establishing their first Paris store in 1878 at 24 rue Boissy d’Anglas, followed by a second in 1882 on rue du Faubourg Saint-Honoré, where the Maison still stands today. During this time, Moreau introduced its signature leather trunk pattern, inspired by wicker braiding, solidifying its place as one of Paris’s four historic monogram brands.

LA MAISON MOREAU 1882
Maison Moreau created a leather trunk with a now iconic pattern inspired by basketry and drawings of wicker trunks braids which remains its signature until today. La Maison Moreau remains one of the four historical monogram brands in Paris.
